Q. What are pennants? A. Pennants are triangular shaped decorations that depict various images that represents an organization. Our pennants are made from the highest quality soft wool felt material, which enhances its durability. The raised flock imprint, beautifully enhance our Historical Black College and University (HBCU) seals and mascots, and become permanent souvenirs for students, alumni, schools, and audiences of all kinds. Our pennants are 9" x 24" in size, and are often displayed on walls in homes, schools, businesses, etc.
Q. What's the significance of these HBCU pennants? A. These pennants symbolize the importance of the past, present, and future of our Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). HBCU's represent a major institution of achievement in America, and their importance to the success of African-American and other groups cannot be understated. "All HBCUs play a critical role in the American higher education system. For most of America's history, African Americans who could receive a college education could only get it from an HBCU. Today, HBCUs remain one of the surest ways for an African American, or student of any race, to receive a high quality education. HBCUs graduate far more than their share of African American professionals. While the 105 HBCUs represent just 3% of the nation's institutions of higher learning, they graduate nearly one-quarter of African Americans who earn undergraduate degrees. Put another way, HBCUs graduate 75% more of their African American students than other schools do. HBCUs, because of their unique sensibility to the special needs of young African American minds, remain the institutions that demonstrate the most effective ability to graduate African American students who are poised to be competitive in the corporate, research, academic, governmental and military arenas. These pennants therefore celebrates the role of HBCUs and provides an opportunity for many to identify. These images are even more critical when one considers the state of our youth in this country and their need to be presented with positive images to help prepare their minds to achieve greatness. That is part of the reason we've had such a huge demand for the product. There is a hunger to present these images to children, even as early as kindergarten and the elementary grades. Q. Over 7 years ago we launched a successful business to offer HBCU products to reach an untapped market of African-American consumers. In the past 2 years, we have began promoting HBCU pennants through our direct marketing efforts over the Internet. The response has been phenomenal. Yet we believe by developing a sales channel like this, we can reach even a far greater audience of customers that seek these products. You see, the Internet has created a tremendous amount of convenience and ease to reach consumers, yet only approximately 2.5% of total sales occur using the Internet. ( See. Working together with Sellers like you, we can reach those markets all around the country and beyond. Q. Who would be interested in purchasing these pennants? A. These HBCU pennants have been very popular among buyers that wish to promote college attendance, the HBCU experience, alumni pride, and black history, or endear themselves to black consumers will be interested in buying these pennants. We expect that our Sellers have a strong entrepreneurial drive and creativity, and will succeed in offering these pennants to the audiences above and others we have not seen. That is one of the power of teaming with people like yourselves. Q. Who can sell these pennants? A. We welcome Sellers of all ages to offer our products. We believe persons that are eager to create opportunities for themselves through hard work, good communications skills, and a tenacity to succeed are the critical requirements of any venture. Q. What price can I charge for these pennants? A. We have developed a suggested retail price for these pennants from $10.00 to $12.00 each. You, of course, are able to modify these prices as you determine appropriate for your customer's pricing sensitivities. From our experience, volume orders of 10 or more pennant would yield a discount on the pricing. Q. Is this a commission based program? A. No. You purchase these pennants directly from us and sell them directly to your customers. Your revenue and profit comes directly from your sales efforts. Q. Do I need to establish a business to sell these pennants? A. IF you are a North Carolina based business, we as a wholesaler or distributor of merchandise in the State of North Carolina, we are required to obtain a completed form "Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Exemption.' Do I need to charge sales taxes? A. See answer above. Again, please refer to the laws governing sales taxes in your area. Also check out http://www.sba.gov for more information. Q. Are there sales territories? A. No. We recognize that our Sellers have networks that may extend beyond their immediate city or town. We want to encourage our Sellers to work hard to build an opportunity for themselves, and therefore no artificial territories have been created. Q. What about delivery once I place an order? A. Typically, orders are shipped within 24 hours. Large orders, especially volume quantities of the same school may take up to 2-3 weeks. Q. Can you ship directly to my customer? A. We recommend that you be the direct interface to your customer to ensure their maximum satisfaction. This is your business and brand you're creating. Typically, we expect you to bundle orders from multiple customers into a single order when you send it to us. There maybe some unique circumstances we may ship directly to your customer. Please contact us to discuss. Q. Why is there a minimum order amount of $150.00? A. We have tried hard to balance the need to be fair to our Sellers as well as the need to be fair to ourselves because there are many people involved behind in making sure your order is processed as per your specifications and delivered to you on time, therefore we have determined that there is a minimum order size that we can process given the service level we have chosen to provide our Sellers. Q. How do I pay for my order? A. You may pay via one of the major credit or debit cards (MC, VISA, DISCOVER) or via a money order or bank cashier's check. If you wish to pay via credit or debit cards, you must have a card on file with our company. Q. Can I mix and match schools to achieve the minimum order of $150.00? A. Yes. The minimum order requirement is $150.00, which equates to 20 pennants. They can be twenty of the same HBCU or twenty different HBCU's. You can mix and match any schools to achieve the minimum requirement. Q. Will there be additional HBCU colleges and universities added to the list? A. Yes, our goal is to produce a representative pennant for each of the 105 HBCUs. Q. What if my customer wants to order a non-HBCU pennant? A. Please contact to discuss this opportunity. We can very likely provide those as well. Q. Are there other non-pennant products that I can sell? A. Our goal is to also introduce other products into the Seller program, that can enhance your revenue goals. Our objective is for each Seller to establish a solid customer base from which to offer other products in the future. We will provide direct communications with our Sellers when new products and terms are announced. Q. Are there tools to help me manage my sales? A. Yes. We will provide sales forms to help you record and manage orders. Later, we expect to provide electronic spreadsheets which maybe useful for managing your day to day operations. Also, there are a number of contact management / business tracking / accounting / tax software products on the market for you to consider. Q. What type of tips or training do I need to make these sales? A.- We will provide some successful steps we've followed to allow you to present your products and close the deal.
